STATEMENT: Protecting Speech from Government Interference Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) released the following statement in support of H.R. 140, the Protecting Speech from Government Interference Act, which would prohibit government officials from using their authority or influence to promote censorship of speech or pressure a social media company to censor speech. The bill was introduced by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer and is currently making its way through the Oversight Committee before it reaches the House floor.

“Our First Amendment rights are at stake. Time and time again, we’ve seen the current Administration betray the trust of the American people by pressuring, encouraging, and colluding with Big Tech giants to censor ideology they disagree with,” said Chad Wolf, Executive Director of AFPI. “This simply cannot go unchallenged, and we applaud Chairman Comer and the House Oversight Committee for proactively fighting this blatant violation of our most cherished and fundamental right.”
